Dexter Jones, the owner of a barbershop in New Haven, Conn., was at the shop around 11 p.m. when two armed men tried to rob him. The two men, in masks and carrying guns, ran up to Jones while he was throwing out some trash. One of the robbers put a gun to Jones back, the other to his head, and demanded money. Jones complied with the robbers’ demands. Then as Jones states, They told me to go to the back of the building and thats when I knew they were probably going to shoot me.
Thats when two brothers who own a restaurant next to Jones shop, noticed their neighbor in trouble. Garfield and Desmond Mills ran out of their restaurant with their guns to help. A shootout ensued, resulting in the robbers fleeing, a possible injury to one of the robbers legs, and no injuries for any of the businessmen.
Afterwards, Jones was grateful for the Mills brothers, stating, If it wasnt for them, I think I would have lost my life last night, A city spokesperson confirmed that the Mills brothers are legal gun owners. (The New Haven Register, New Haven, Conn. 12/3/08)
