HUNTSVILLE YOUTH GRABS GUN AND FIRES AT ALLEGED INTRUDER

A HUNTSVILLE man is fighting for his life in hospital after allegedly
breaking into a home yesterday and being shot by a youth who lived
there.
Police said the man broke into the home in the middle of the night where
a father and his family were sleeping.
After being confronted, the intruder viciously attacked the father and a
youth, believed to be his son. The youth grabbed a .22-calibre rifle and
fired at the man, seriously wounding him.
The injured suspect fled the house on foot. Using search dogs, police
tracked him down. He was found bleeding in a vehicle parked in a
driveway a few kilometres away. He was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital
in Toronto.
So far police have not released the identity of the youth or the
intruder.
“I can’t imagine how this family must be feeling at this time,” said OPP
Const. Harry Rawluk, who said the intruder has been charged with
breaking and entering.
“There is a section in the Criminal Code that protects people who act in
self-defence,” Rawluk said. “But I can’t say if that applies here until
the investigation is completed.
